How to blur a face or text in a picture
Upload your image, then drag a rectangle over the area you want to hide — a face, a license plate, a name, an address. Release to apply the blur instantly, and repeat for as many regions as you need. The strength slider controls how unreadable the area becomes; use Undo to remove the last region or Clear all to start over, then download the censored copy.
Blurring sensitive information safely
Because this tool runs entirely in your browser, the photo containing sensitive information is never uploaded — the safest possible workflow for documents, IDs, and screenshots. One caution: light blur at low strength can sometimes be partially reversed by deblurring algorithms. For text you genuinely need unreadable — account numbers, passwords, addresses — use strength 15–20, which destroys the underlying detail rather than just softening it.
How the blur works
Each selected region is downscaled heavily and then scaled back up with smoothing, averaging neighboring pixels together. At high strength a second downscale pass is applied, leaving only coarse color blocks with no recoverable structure. This downsample method is fast enough to apply instantly even on large photos, and only the regions you select are modified — the rest of the image stays pixel-identical.
Frequently asked questions
Can a blurred image be un-blurred?
Weak blur can sometimes be partially recovered by AI deblurring. At strength 15–20 this tool reduces the region to coarse color blocks with no recoverable detail — use high strength for anything sensitive.
Is my image uploaded to a server?
No. Region selection and blurring run entirely in your browser. This makes it safe for IDs, documents, and private photos.
Can I blur multiple areas in one image?
Yes. Drag as many rectangles as you need — each applies immediately. Undo removes the most recent region; Clear all resets the image.
Does blurring affect the rest of the photo?
No. Only the rectangles you select are modified. Every other pixel is exported exactly as in the original.
